Our Vision

We imagine a world where grown-up ‘kids’ cherish the outdoors, care for the environment, and act as good stewards of our natural resources. By inspiring these connections early, we’re cultivating a generation of leaders who will continue to care for, and about, the wonders of our planet for years to come.

WELCOME TO LOVELAND LEARNING GARDEN!

At Loveland Learning Garden, we believe every child deserves the chance to connect with the wonders of nature. Through hands-on learning and outdoor exploration, we create opportunities for kids to discover how plants grow, where food comes from, and the joy of spending time in the natural world.

From tasting freshly picked veggies to harvesting food for local pantries, our programs make learning an adventure. Whether it’s a first encounter with a garden bed or an exciting walk on our nature trail, every experience fosters curiosity, connection, and a lifelong love for the environment.

We’re excited to welcome you into our garden—where seeds of knowledge and community are planted every day!

Our Story

What began in 2002 as a simple flower garden on a schoolyard has blossomed into one of the most comprehensive school garden programs in the country. Loveland Learning Garden started with a grandmother’s vision of sharing the joy of picking fresh flowers with children. Over the years, vegetables, herbs, and a nature trail were added, transforming the garden into a hub for hands-on, nature-based education.

In 2016, our founder retired, and a new team of dedicated volunteers and leaders stepped in to carry the vision forward. Today, we proudly serve nearly 1,400 students annually, offering programming recognized as a model for nature-based education training. With strong school partnerships, diverse leadership, and community support, we’re continuing to grow the magic of Loveland Learning Garden and inspire the next generation of nature lovers.

Our impact

Thanks to the support of our incredible community, we’re making a difference every day. Here’s what we accomplished in 2023:

38 - Teachers who used our outdoor learning spaces for school day lessons!

351 - Lessons delivered during school day hours!

234 - Estimated hours students spent in our outdoor spaces during school hours!

1127 - Total weight of produce grown in our schoolyard garden and donated to LIFE food pantry hitting a new annual record!

37 - Participants in our after-school enrichment sessions!

We’re not just growing food and teaching lessons—we’re growing connections, community, and a love for the environment.
